FAQ's

Our Most Frequently Asked Questions

What type of timber do you use?

All our items are made from pressure treated softwood, mainly a mixture of pine and larch. We only use timber that is FSC certified which means all our wood is sourced ethically from sustainably maintained woodland, right here in the UK.

How long will my items last?

Our tanalised timber is treated to ISO9001 standards. This gives a 15 year guarantee against rot. All our staples and metalwork is made from galvanised steel, which in turn prolongs the life of our items.

Do my panels need any additional care?

Whilst the treatment prevents rot as the panels are exposed to the elements the colour will fade from as seen to a silvery grey. This can be prevented by using a clear oil. Alternatively the panels can be painted or oiled to prevent this. If doing prior to installation we recommend giving the timber a couple of weeks to dry to prevent moisture escaping and cracking the paintwork.

How do you prevent knot holes and cracks?

The timber we use is always a deepcut redwood, that we in turn check for large knot holes and splits. This high quality timber and attention to detail means we eliminate as manyof these issues as possible. Whilst it should be remembered that timber is a natural product and items will be replaced at our discretion, we will try to help wherever we can.
